Ray Marriott was born in 1946 in Nottinghamshire. He read Modern History at Keble College, Oxford and, after teaching at Leeds Grammar School, entered local government as an education officer. He worked for North Yorkshire, Humberside, Cumbria and Lancashire County Councils and now lives in retirement in the Yorkshire Dales. He is married to Glenys and has three children and two grandchildren. This is his first book.
